National Forum was founded on 15 December 2006 by Kakha Shartava, the son of a Georgian politician killed by Abkhazian militias in 1993. The party is opposed to the incorporation of Georgia to NATO, arguing that the country should remain neutral.

The flag is blue with a yellow cross placed on a blue disk outlined in yellow. A yellow writing in Georgian script is placed between two yellow horizontal lines below the emblem.
